Easter Sunday was my birthday.
It was a bit strange having a birthday on such a busy day. Organizing the annual egg hunt in the middle of the afternoon was a bit odd, but then again the kids provided me with heaps of amusement as I watched them streaking right past the most obvious eggs or screaming with panic as a spider hopped out to surprise them. I had many a good birthday laugh!
I also received some Easter-style birthday cards, most notably the one above made with love by my 3 year old niece. She had stuck all the pieces on herself and sent it all the way from England.
To add to my happiness I was also lucky enough to be blessed with a surprise skein of yarn. Last week I just happened to be the 500th person to leave a comment over at Nothing But Knit. Turns out Karen had been running a secret giveaway and I was the lucky recipient.
Look what she sent me!
It's a superwash merino called Frolicking Feet and is made by Done Roving Farm Yarns in Charlotte, Maine. The colours are wonderful. Thank you Karen for choosing your gift so thoughtfully. They are perfect Wilde Thyme shades!
Stash enhancement seems to have been on the cards recently. It's probably due to all the college talk going on in the house right now. I think my inner yarn addict is very aware that she may be knitting from her stash for years to come once those college bills come flooding in!
The Handy Husband got me some Knit Picks Harmony Interchangeable needles for my birthday, so I threw in a skein of this Stroll Tonal too.

I also picked up this Cascade Heritage Silk in a deep Mulberry on a recent trip to Main Street Yarns in Mill Creek, WA.
Now I'm dreaming of deep, luscious purple lace..........*sigh*.....
.......as soon as I'm finished with my Moonlight Sonata Shawl though.....
....ofcourse.

Oh, what gorgeous colors. A happy birthday indeed! Look forward to seeing what you do with them.
ReplyDeleteThat card is so cute and colorful!
Beautiful yarns! Happy Birthday, Jane!
ReplyDeleteThat's some really pretty birthday yarn! Sounds like you had an egg-cellent day. Sorry, couldn't resist!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! It is weird to share your birthday with another holiday. Mine often falls on Yom Kippur, the Jewish day of repentance. Now that makes for a really odd birthday!
ReplyDeleteI picked up some Done Roving yarn when I was in Maine almost two years ago. I can't decide what to do with it as it is so lovely!
That yarn is scrumptious. Happy Birthday and enjoy the easter chocolate and knitting :)
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful! My mother's 88th birthday was also Easter Sunday so we had two celebrations! Dinner for 15 people. All but one of her children were there as well as spouses and a couple of grandkids & great grandsons.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm headed over to Done Roving Farm Yarns for a look see. Thanks for the link!
(belated) Happy Birthday, Jane!
ReplyDeleteYou got some gorgeous and appropriate gifts there, and the card from your niece is lovely, she did well with the glue!
